The story that we're enjoying the crime of the French cafe, was written way back in 1893, and it appeared in the New York weekly, a publication of the print house Street and Smith.

When it was originally published in the New York weekly, it was a serialized story, meaning that each week you, the reader would read another chapter in whatever the story arc it was that you were following.
